We offer three different types of College Essay Courses:
- Common Application and Universal College Application Writing Workshop
- Supplemental Essay Workshop
- College Essay Individual Counseling
These courses are designed to help applicants craft their personal statements and essays for college applications, scholarships, and internships. The instructor will walk the students through the writing process and work on the writing skills that need refining. Applicants will write under the guidance of the instructor as well as independently. The student will present drafts for feedback and revisions.
While these courses focus on the college application, the refinement of skills is an investment in lifelong writing. One or all of the elements of writing may be emphasized depending upon the individual student’s skills and the requirements of the writing assignment.
Students will learn how to:
- Choose the theme of their writing that reflects qualities they want to emphasize
- Write a cohesive, well-organized and memorable personal statement
- Craft their essays to show depth and critical thinking
The Common Application Essay, Universal College Application Essay and the Supplemental Essay validate an applicant’s ability to communicate their personality, passion, persistence and commitment. The essay needs to demonstrate something that the Admissions Officer will not see in the applicant’s resume. An effective and memorable essay will differentiate them from the thousands of other applicants all vying for a select few spots.
Each essay needs to be unique because each applicant is unique. There is no “one perfect essay” that applies to every applicant. Everyone has his or her own story to tell. Let us help you tell yours the right way.
