Majority of the top colleges ask their own College Supplemental Essay questions. These questions dig deeper into the applicants’ aspirations, hopes, dreams and personality to see if the applicants are good “fit” for the college. These types of essays need to show what the applicants know about the school and how they plan to make contributions to the diversity of the college life there. Admissions Officers scrutinize College Supplemental Essay as it is very specific to the college.
Class Structure for the Supplemental Essay
(Maximum of 6 students per class)
Session 1 Researching and Learning the Essay Structure – We will guide the applicants learn more about the school that they are applying for and look for some different angles on how they can effectively write their supplementary essay based on their personality, life experiences and their background. Once we discover their story, we teach them how to create a structure for the essay, which the applicant will then use to write a first draft. Their homework is to finish their draft at home and come back on the next session with a finished draft.
Sessions 2 to 3 Draft Revisions and Review – We will confer individually with applicants and we will discuss what works and what do not. The applicant uses our conference notes and suggestions to write a second, third and fourth drafts and focus on the content and their own voice in writing.
Session 4 Final Revision and Editing – This is where we finalize up to the tiniest details of grammar, punctuations and some other things that need to be looked at.
