Problem Solving Essays
We teach students strategies about how to organize, develop and edit a problem solving essay; we guide students about how to write a math problem solving essay in 30 minutes. (4 weeks).
Students solve the math problem question with their math teacher. English and Language Arts teachers help the students craft a well -organized essay. The class structure follows the Writing Workshop Model in the Balanced Literacy Framework. There will be several student teacher conferences that focus on equipping students with writing strategies that they can apply in writing. Students also practice on retired TJ prompts given to the past TJ applicants.
First hour with the Math Teacher. Practice on complex math problem solving skills. Hone your math skills and develop some more Quant Q-problem solving techniques and strategies.
Second hour with the Writing Teacher. Explain and organize the solution in a written format. Take the solution and learn how to organize your essay in 3700 characters within 30 minutes. Every student must bring their own fully-charged laptop in class. We train students to type fast since the essay writing are taken online.
