Live Online Class Structure
ACT Reading Aspire Diagnostic Test or TJ Diagnostic Test must have been finished before the first session. All students must have their own laptops/Macbook to be able to join the live online class. Class links will be available to all paid registrants only through our YSC dashboard.
Session 1 Overview of the ACT Reading Aspire Test. Discussion of strategies and various genre and question types. Short quiz.
Session 2. Learn the various reading comprehension strategies on different genres of passages that you will encounter in Reading-Aspire. Learn strategies on how to answer different types of questions: Key Ideas and Details, Craft and Structure, Integration of Knowledge and Ideas. Practice on creating passage maps using the writers goals and techniques. Homework.
Session 3 – Homework review and discussion. Constructed Responses strategies on paired text passages. Lessons on supporting your responses with evidence from the literary selections and expository selections. Homework.
Session 4 – Homework review and discussion. Timing and pacing. Hands-on activities on time management and pacing. Read variety of passage genres, answer multiple choice items and constructed responses and discover ways to time and pace yourself. Homework.
Reading Aspire Timed Mock Test (to be taken online at home). The test must be finished at least a day before the fifth session.
Session 5 – Discussion and review of the multiple choice results and constructed responses.
